Bike To Work Week begins Monday. Workers who bike, bus or walk three or more times during the week will get a free one-year membership to Ozark Greenways.
City Utilities has bike racks on the front of all buses, and any passengers traveling with a bike during the week will ride for free.
Businesses that would like to participate should contact Ozark Greenways at (417) 864-2015. The two businesses with the most participation will receive the Bike To Work Week traveling trophy.
Later this month, Ozark Greenways will present the eighth annual Bass Pro Conservation 10K and 5K Run/Walk.
The races begin at 8 a.m. May 20 at the entrance of Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World. The top three male and female winners will receive $1,000, $750 and $500 cash awards, and Bass Pro will give out more than $10,000 in prizes.
Also at the race, Frank Shorter, Olympic marathon gold and silver medalist, will run and sign autographs. Register for the race online at www.ozarkgreenways.org.
At 7 a.m. June 3, the Ozark Greenways Adventure Race will be held at Niangua River Oasis near Lebanon.
Coed teams of four will compete in an eight- to 14-hour multisport endurance race. Activities include running, mountain biking, orienteering, canoeing and mystery tests. All distances and itineraries are secret until the morning of the race.
Adventure race participation is limited to the first 100 teams. Register online at the Ozark Greenways Web site.
