Big businesses see little ROI for GOP support

Corporate America funneled billions of dollars into the 2010 and 2012 elections to try to hand control of the government to the Republican party. But, according to a report in the Washington Post, that support hasn’t worked out well for big business, at least not in regard to the current partial government shutdown.
 
Despite concerns from corporate America that the shutdown could damage the faltering economic recovery, the article reports businesses are losing their influence over the GOP.

Instead, the direction of the Republican Party is being commandeered by the increasingly confrontational tea-party groups. Many leading conservative business groups, including the powerful business-interest lobbying group the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, blame the tea-party minority for “causing the ruckus” and state the GOP has too often given in to the demands of the tea-party minority, the Post reports.
