President Joe Biden is expected to move to split $7 billion in frozen Afghan funds.
The Biden administration intends to pursue assets that Afghanistan’s central bank deposited in New York before the Taliban takeover.
The administration plans to use half of the funds for relatives of victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, with the other half going toward immediate humanitarian relief efforts and other needs in Afghanistan.
