President Joe Biden committed the United States to a sharp reduction in carbon emissions.
Speaking at a virtual climate summit attended by 40 other world leaders, Biden unveiled the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50%-52% below the country's 2005 levels by 2030.
Biden did not immediately lay out a road map for reaching the goal.
