President Joe Biden is pursuing a new avenue to cancel student loan debt after the U.S Supreme Court ruled against his forgiveness program.
Bien said his administration would utilize the Higher Education Act of 1965. That act authorizes the education secretary to modify, waive or compromise federal student loans in certain circumstances, according to USA Today.
"In my view, it's the best path that remains to provide as many borrowers as possible with debt relief," Biden said.
