In an evening address on Thursday, President Joe Biden called on legislators to pass gun control legislation in the wake of a series of American mass shootings.
He asked for a ban on assault-style weapons, an expansion of background checks and the passage of "red flag" laws.
“My God,” he said. "The fact that the majority of the Senate Republicans don’t want any of these proposals, even to be debated or come up for a vote, I find unconscionable. We can’t fail the American people again.”
