Amazon founder Jeff Bezos announced he would step down from the CEO role.
Bezos plans to transition to executive chair in the third quarter. Andy Jassy, CEO of Amazon Web Services, will succeed Bezos.
Bezos said he wants to focus on "other passions," such as the Blue Origin space program and The Washington Post. Amazon officials said Bezos would remain involved in the company's operations.
