Berkshire Hathaway's earnings rise

Berkshire Hathaway Inc. reported a fourth-quarter earnings gain of nearly 15 percent.

The company's net income came to $6.3 billion, up from $5.5 billion a year earlier.

Officials cited the stock market's end-of-year gains.
