Bentonville 'Amazeum' changes name, sets opening date

Posted online
Officials for a $21.5 million interactive children’s museum being constructed in Bentonville, Ark., and dubbed the Amazeum, have selected an opening date and changed its name.

The Scott Family Amazeum, a 50,000-square-foot facility being built at the tip of the entrance road to the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, was renamed in honor of the Lee Scott family. Scott, a former Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT) CEO, and his wife, Linda, were early advocates for the project. Their son, Eric, serves on the Amazeum’s board of directors.

The museum is slated to open to the public on July 15. Details about its exhibitions, hours and admission fees are expected to be released closer to the grand opening, according to Arkansas Business.
