Beef prices soar to highest level since 1987

Growing demand for beef in some Asian countries and droughts plaguing U.S. farmers have contributed to prices hitting a high of $5.28 a pound in February.

The price is the highest in nearly three decades and is expected to stay high for the immediate future, according to Time.

The market has experienced a declining cattle supply and increased demand from China and Japan.
