Former private practice attorney Becky Borthwick first took the bench in 2013. Now, she’s been selected for a newly created judgeship.
Gov. Mike Parson on Oct. 25 appointed Borthwick for a new circuit judge position for the 31st Judicial Circuit. The job was created by the Missouri General Assembly this year, according to a news release.
Borthwick got the nod out of nine applicants and two other finalists. The other finalists, according to a separate news release, were Randall Eggert, supervisory assistant U.S. attorney for the Western District of Missouri, and Ginger Gooch, a partner at Husch Blackwell LLP.
Borthwick became an associate judge for Greene County’s 31st Circuit in 2016, when she was appointed by former Gov. Jay Nixon. She previously was a judge for Springfield Municipal Court since 2013, when she exited her managing partner role at the Queen City office of Franke Schultz & Mullen PC. She also previously worked as an assistant attorney general in the Missouri attorney general’s Springfield office, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.
