Lee Beaman, president and co-owner of Springfield-based Beaman Electric Co., has been chosen by the National Federation of Independent Business to serve on its 26-member Missouri Leadership Council.
In that role, he will assist with developing NFIB's statewide agenda and help build strategies to support small businesses in Missouri, according to a news release.
Members of the council are nominated by NFIB's state director or current members and elected by the council.
"Lee watched his father build Beaman Electric from the ground up, so he truly understands the challenges of owning and growing a small business," said NFIB/Missouri Director Brad Jones, in the release.
Beaman's father, Warren E. Beaman, founded the company in the early 1970s. Today, Beaman Electric has 52 employees. The company joined NFIB in 1995.
"The small-business owners who serve on our state Leadership Council not only advise NFIB on key issues but also are strong advocates for small businesses, telling our story to state and federal lawmakers," Jones said. "Lee has tremendous energy, and that's going to help us promote and protect the right of our members to own, operate and grow their businesses."
