Beaman Electric closes its doors

Posted online
Beaman Electric Inc., which has provided electrical contracting services in the Springfield market since 1993, closed its doors June 3, with its owner and a half-dozen employees joining a competitor.

James Tillman, co-owner of Complete Electrical Solutions, which got its start in mid-2010, said he recently hired Lee Beaman, president of Beaman Electric, as a service technician along with five former Beaman Electric employees.

"We have worked together in the electrical business for approximately 18 years," Tillman said of his longtime industry peer. "It will bring strength and stability to our company along with the ability to take care of a broader range of service."

Tillman said Complete Electrical Solutions did not purchase Beaman Electric.

Beaman confirmed that he closed Beaman Electric but referred further comment to his public relations firm, ADsmith Communications. ADsmith owner Angela Smith did not return repeated phone calls.

Tillman said Beaman also brought a number of clients with him to Complete Electrical Solutions, including work for Roma of Springfield, Meek's Lumber & Hardware and a variety of service contracts.

With the staff additions, Tillman said Complete Electrical Solutions employs 28. According to Springfield Business Journal's May 23 list of the area's largest electrical contractors, Beaman Electric was the fifth largest with 29 employees. Complete Electrical Solutions was No. 8 on the list.[[In-content Ad]]
