BBC to cut up to 2,000 jobs

The BBC announced plans to cut between 1,800 and 2,000 jobs.

That amounts to roughly 10% of its global workforce.

"Put simply, the gap between our costs and our income is growing," said Rhodri Talfan Davies, interim director general, in an email to staff.

The BBC has roughly 21,500 employees worldwide.
