BBB of SWMO announces 2014 expulsions

Posted online
The Better Business Bureau of Southwest Missouri this week announced its 2014 expulsions - companies that are no longer accredited by the nonprofit business organization.

The most recent came on Dec. 19, when the BBB expelled Nixa-based Sound Connection LLC, which does business as HiFiSoundConnection.com and Hi Fi Sound Connection.

According to a news release, Sound Connection was notified several times between Sept. 9 and Dec. 11 of complaints about customers service and refund or exchange issues. The BBB says company officials failed to meet with the organization to rectify the complaints.

Hi Fi Sound Connection founder and CEO Chris Rush said this morning he was out of town at the time and offered to send a customer service manager to meet with the BBB, but the request was denied. He noted, too, his belief the BBB doesn’t understand the scale of his business, an e-commerce company working out of 60,000 square feet of warehouse space in Nixa that counts as many as 12,000 customers per month in online sales of sound systems and equipment.

“For me, six (complaints) out of 12,000 people is nothing,” Rush said, noting a revenue increase of 35-40 percent in 2014. “While we want to take care of every customer and make sure they’re all happy, that’s a very good percentage in my mind.”

On Oct. 16, Floorcraft Carpet lost its accreditation. Between July 29 and Sept. 23, the BBB repeatedly notified the Springfield company about a consumer complaint concerning repair issues. The company was expelled for failing to commit to arbitration efforts with the consumer, according to the release.

The BBB on Oct. 15 revoked the accreditation of Branson-based Investment Brokers of the Ozarks Inc., dba Investment Brokers Realty, for failing to cooperate with the nonprofit on advertising matters and providing information required to evaluate compliance with the organization. Between March 11 and Sept. 8, the company’s website stated a claim of the  “No. 1 source for Branson rentals and property management.” When asked to provide proof for the claim, the company failed to respond, the BBB says.

An April 23 expulsion was made after Springfield-based Ozark Outdoor Services LLC failed to respond to one or more complaints filed against the business. Specifically, between Jan. 6. and Feb. 11, the landscaping company was docked for two unanswered customer complaints regarding service issues and refund and exchange issues, according to the release.

To maintain accreditation with the BBB, businesses must respond to the organization’s requests regarding patterns of complaints and advertising matters and are expected to respond to consumer problems.[[In-content Ad]]
