The Better Business Bureau this week issued a warning that job-related scams are rising amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Job scam reports filed with the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center rose 27% between 2018 and 2020.
Stephanie Garland, the BBB's regional director for southwest Missouri, said the percentage likely has grown higher over the past six months.
The most common scams include identity theft, reshipping schemes and payments using fake checks.
