German pharmaceutical giant Bayer AG reached a deal to sell some of its units in order to pave the way for its purchase of Monsanto Co.
German chemical company BASF agreed to buy Bayer's seed and nonselective herbicide businesses for $7 billion.
The move by Bayer is meant to alleviate regulatory concerns over its planned $57 billion purchase of Monsanto.
