Bayer receives Russian approval for Monsanto acquisition

Russian antitrust authorities gave the green light to Bayer AG's proposed buyout of Monsanto.

The $62.5 billion deal was approved by the European Commission last month. It hasn't yet been approved by the U.S. Department of Justice, but the governing body is said to be nearing a decision to OK the purchase.

For Russia's approval, Bayer agreed to transfer to Russian recipients certain molecular breeding assets in several crops for a five-year period, among other concessions.
