Battlefield Mall is working with the Missouri Career Center to host a holiday hiring drive to connect potential employees with retailers and restaurants.
The 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 22 hiring fair at the mall's JCPenney East Court would include full- and part-time positions from companies with a presence at the establishment, as well as outside businesses seeking full-timers, according to a news release.
“As an economic catalyst with thousands of local employment opportunities, we are pleased to be able to work with our retailers and the Missouri Career Center to match those in need of work with new full- and part-time positions," Battlefield Mall General Manager Charles Tarkington said in the release.
Among the roughly 50 employers to be represented at the fair are JCPenney, Old Navy, Zales, Claire’s, Icing, Bath & Body Works and Build-A-Bear Workshop. Open jobs include sales, servers, cashiers and managers. At the event, employers will review resumes, provide applications and conduct on-the-spot interviews, according to the release.
Mall officials point to a predicted need for employees in the retail industry, which last fall added over 66,000 jobs across the U.S., according to the National Retail Federal. The
NRF forecasts a 4.1 percent increase in sales for America's retailers over the holiday season, which would push totals to upwards of $617 billion.
Shares of Battlefield Mall owner Simon Property Group (NYSE: SPG) were trading at $165.11 as of 9:04 a.m., compared to a 52-week range of $138.68 to $173.31.[[In-content Ad]]
