A battery recycling plant caught fire on Wednesday in Fredericktown in the southeastern part of the state.
Emergency services agencies urged residents to stay inside or evacuate the area as smoke billowed out of the Critical Mineral Recovery Plant.
The facility recycles electric vehicle and consumer-grade lithium-ion batteries, St. Louis Public Radio reports.
