'Batman: Arkham Knight' launch drives GameStop's profit beat

Sales of new video game releases "Batman: Arkham Knight" and "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" helped GameStop Corp. post higher-than-expected quarterly revenue and profit.

The world's largest retailer of video games and related products posted net income of $25.3 million, or 24 cents per share, up from $24.6 million, or 22 cents per share, a year earlier, according to Reuters.

Revenue rose nearly 2 percent to $1.8 billion in the second quarter ended Aug. 1.
