After five years of negotiation, Springfield-based Bass Pro Shops will be building a Memphis, Tenn., location.
Bass Pro has entered into a 55-year-lease with the city and will build the new location in the city-owned Pyramid, one of Memphis' most recognizable works of architecture.
The company is hoping for a $100 million regional center and will require Memphis to pay $30 million toward its construction, according to The Commercial Appeal of Memphis. Also citing The Commercial appeal,
SBJ reported on May 18 that Memphis plans to use $70 million in federal recovery funds to develop the Pyramid, allowing for improved earthquake protection and other infrastructure developments.
"This is an ideal location for one of our regional destination stores," Bass Pro President Jim Hagale told The Commercial Appeal. "It's an iconic building and this is a region that is rich and strong in its outdoor activities and history."
Bass Pro hopes to open the new location by November 2011.[[In-content Ad]]
