The Augusta Chronicle reported Thursday that the Springfield-based outdoor retailer is joining the Village at Riverwatch, an 860,000-square-foot development projected to open in fall 2009.
The paper reports that Bass Pro will likely be the first of the center’s anchors to open; other previously announced tenants include Belk department store, Costco and Starplex Cinema.
On April 16, the Development Authority of Richmond County approved the first step toward $25 million in tax-exempt bond financing for the 100,000-square-foot store, which is expected to employ about 250.
Village at Riverwatch’s developer, Texas-based MGHerring Group, with help from North Carolina commercial development firm Collett & Associates, is negotiating with several other unnamed tenants, the paper reports.
Bass Pro currently has 49 locations in the United States and Canada, and the retailer has announced plans for at least 10 more.
