Bass Pro to anchor development in upstate New York

Springfield-based Bass Pro Shops has signed on as the anchor tenant for a 96-acre mixed-use development in upstate New York.

Bass Pro plans to build a 145,000-square-foot Outdoor World in Victor, N.Y., to complement its New York stores in Auburn and Utica. A 2016 opening date is anticipated, according to a news release.

Located in the Rochester, N.Y., metropolitan statistical area - the third largest metro in New York with over 1 million people in six counties - the Bass Pro store would be built in the Fishers Ridge development comprising restaurants, hotels, and residential and office space. Other tenants include Sherwin-Williams, State Farm Insurance and Enterprise Rent-A-Car, according to the development's website.

“Bass Prop Shops is precisely the type of attraction that will exemplify our vision for Fishers Ridge," said John DiMarco II, president of Fishers Ridge developer DiMarco Group, in the release.

The Bass Pro store would include the Uncle Buck's Fishbowl & Grill concept, a nautical-themed bowling alley and restaurant.

Bass Pro also is reportedly planning a new store in Sarasota, Fla., which would be its fifth store planned for development in the state and its 14th overall, according to the Herald-Tribune.

Bass Pro operates 85 retail stores and Tracker Marine centers in the U.S. and Canada and anticipates some 116 million guests this year, the release said.[[In-content Ad]]
