Negotiations had been ongoing and came to a head this week as Bass Pro neared a Jan. 31 deadline to make a decision.
The development agreement is more binding than a letter of intent, according to city of Memphis spokeswoman Toni Holmon-Turner, but it doesn’t mean the project’s a done deal. Memphis City Council and Shelby County Commission will look over the terms next.
Springfield-based Bass Pro first announced in February 2006 that it intended to open a store in the Pyramid. The company at the time said it planned to invest between $75 million and $100 million in renovations and pay as much as $1 million year for a lease.
