Bass Pro Shops on the hunt for funds

Bass Pro Shops, the Springfield-based retailer of fishing, hunting and other outdoor-recreation gear, is considering various alternatives for raising funds, people familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal.

The company hired Moelis & Co., a mergers-and-acquisitions advisory boutique, for help with the process that's still in its early stages.

According to the journal, one possibility is the sale of a minority stake, which could value the company in the billions. It's unclear what the company founded by Johnny Morris would use the money for.
