Bass Pro Shops is in hiring mode in its home city.
The outdoors retailer held a hiring event yesterday for the distribution center at its Springfield headquarters on East Kearney Street, and a job fair is scheduled June 15 for the flagship store at Sunshine Street and Campbell Avenue , according to a news release.
The company plans to make more than 100 hires through the events.
Bass Pro ranked No. 4 with 6,000 local employees on Springfield Business Journal's list of the area's largest employers, published May 16. The retailer employs 40,000 companywide.
Current and new employees, along with their dependents, will have access to a new corporate health care center come this fall, according to past reporting. The Family Health Center is taking the place of a former Greyhound bus station across the street from Bass Pro's corporate headquarters' entrance.
Bass Pro, which recently announced plans for a new store in Irvine, California, operates roughly 170 locations in the United States and Canada, according to past reporting.
The Republic School District is on track to open its Intermediate School for fifth- and sixth-grade students for the 2025-26 academic year.
