Bass Pro pulls out of Green Bay development plans

Posted online
Bass Pro Shops has cut short a deal that would have started construction of a Wisconsin location near Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers.

The Springfield-based retailer had discussed plans to build at the site but called the project off after learning the store would be built on wetlands, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and state legislative leaders said Jan. 28 they would move to enact a bill that would allow development on the wetlands near Lambeau Field, but Bass Pro has remained steadfastly against building on a wetland site, according to the article.

"We were unaware of any wetlands issues and have not and will not be in favor of doing anything to harm wetlands, wherever they might be," Larry Whiteley, Bass Pro manager of communications, said in an open issued statement.
