Bass Pro plans largest single-level store to date

Posted online

Springfield-based outdoor retailer Bass Pro Shops has big plans for a new store in Sayreville, New Jersey, a city located southwest of New York’s Staten Island.

The Outdoor World would be the largest single-level store for Bass Pro to date, according to a news release.

A fall opening date is planned for the roughly 200,000-square-foot store, located near the intersection of Interstate 95 and Interstate 287. It will be part of the 400-acre Riverton retail complex.

“This location and concept will be unlike anything ever seen in the outdoor retail industry and truly opens a new chapter in the Bass Pro Shops story,” Bass Pro founder Johnny Morris said in the release. “To be able to showcase the importance of conservation and help inspire passion for the outdoors with so many families is downright exciting.”

The store will include aquariums, comprising a 65,000-gallon shipwreck feature and a 12,000-gallon ray touch pool.

Bass Pro currently has one store in New Jersey, part of 182 locations in the United States and Canada, according to its website.
