Bass Pro plans Atlantic City store

Posted online
Bass Pro Shops has reached an agreement to build a store as part of an Atlantic City, N.J. development.

"Atlantic City is one of the great game fish areas along the East Coast," Bass Pro founder Johnny Morris said in a news release. "After touring the site, it was apparent that we were being offered the most high-profile location in the Atlantic City market."

Bass Pro reached an agreement to be part of The Walk, an Atlantic City development by The Cordish Cos.

“Bass Pro Shops is one of the great retailers in the world and will be a game changer for Atlantic City,” said developer Blake Cordish of The Cordish Cos. in the release. “Bass Pro Shops is a mega tourist destination that will draw visitors from throughout the northeast region and enhance Atlantic City’s appeal as a major shopping and entertainment destination."

Officials are expected to break ground on the 70,000-square-foot Outdoor World in spring 2013, and the store has a planned opening date of late 2013 or spring 2014.

In addition to selling outdoor gear, the store also would include a boat showroom for Tracker Marine, a Springfield-based boat and trailer manufacturer operating under the umbrella of Bass Pro Shops, the release said.
