Springfield-based retailers Bass Pro Shops and O'Reilly Automotive Inc. (Nasdaq: ORLY) ranked among the National Retail Federation's 2014 Hot 100 Retailers list.
The
list, compiled for the NRF by global research firm Kantar Retail and released Aug. 1, ranks U.S. retail companies by 2012-13 sales growth. The companies, which must have U.S. sales of at least $300 million to qualify, averaged 12.4 percent domestic sales growth on the 2014 list, down from last year's 15.4 percent when a weaker inflationary environment was in place, according to the NRF.
Bass Pro ranked No. 48 on the list with 2012-13 sales growth of 8.2 percent to $2.59 billion. Worldwide sales totaled $2.63 billion. Sales for privately held companies such as Bass Pro were estimated by Kantar Retail.
Bass Pro rival Cabela's Inc. (NYSE: CAB) ranked 26th on the list with 14.6 percent sales growth to $3 billion in 2013.
O'Reilly Automotive took the No. 53 spot, after the company grew domestic sales 7.6 percent to $6.6 billion in 2013.
Topping the list is Boise, Idaho-based Albertsons LLC, which grew sales 432.7 percent to $19.5 million last year, according to the list.
