Bass Pro opening to draw thousands in Utica

About 9,000 outdoors enthusiasts are expected today as Bass Pro Shops opens a 60,000-square-foot store in Utica, N.Y.

The Outpost store employs about 200 and is expected by city officials to bring a sales tax boost during the winter months as cash flow runs low, according to the Utica Observer Dispatch.

Bass Pro will be the fourth sporting goods store to open in the area, joining Dick’s Sporting Goods, Gander Mountain and Herb Philipson’s.
