The winners of last weekend’s Bass Pro Shops Legends of Golf at Big Cedar Lodge tournament split a $460,000 purse.

PGA Champions Tour golfers Billy Andrade and Joe Durant won by three strokes over Sandy Lyle and Ian Woosnam. The team finished at 19 under par, 159, in the 50-and-older PGA circuit. They also each earned 230 points toward the season-long Charles Schwab Cup race, according to a news release.

The final round at John Morris’ Top of the Rock course in Ridgedale included a hole-in-one by Durant on No. 12. Overall, the team’s bogey free, 9-under-par 45 broke the previous record for the lowest 18-hole score at the course. They also swung for record scores of 4-under-par 23 on the front nine and 5-under-par 27 on the back nine.

In the Legends circuit, for players 65 years and older - played at Morris’ nearby Buffalo Ridge course - Larry Nelson and Bruce Fleisher captured the win, each receiving $60,000 for their play, according to the release.

The second-annual Legends tournament hosted by Bass Pro and Big Cedar was held April 22-26.

The release did not include an attendance tally. Last year’s tournament brought in some 14,000 attendees and generated an estimated $3.46 million for the local economy, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.[[In-content Ad]]
