Truex drives the No. 1 Chevrolet for Dale Earnhardt Inc. and is currently ranked ninth in Nextel Cup points. The agreement takes the sponsorship through the 2010 NASCAR Nextel Cup season.
“We are confident in the leadership of DEI and Martin Truex Jr. and the capabilities of this team,” Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris said in a July 7 news release announcing the agreement. “Martin is not only a great driver but is also a great fit for us because of his love for hunting and fishing and his concern for conservation.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Bass Pro has sponsored Truex since 2003.
“Bass Pro Shops has been an awesome sponsor for me,” Truex said in the release. “I have become real close with Johnny Morris and all the people at Bass Pro Shops, and I wouldn’t want anyone else to sponsor my race car right now.”
The outdoor sporting goods retailer has 42 retail locations in 24 states and Canada.
