Bass Pro Shops extended a partnership with Capital One Financial Corp. (NYSE: COF) that it entered after the purchase of Cabela’s – and it includes a million-dollar donation.
Through the multiyear extension, Bass Pro will continue to offer a credit card promotion utilizing Capital One's services, according to a news release. As part of the new deal, Capitol One agreed to donate $1 million to the Johnny Morris Conservation Foundation.
"With Capital One’s generous support, our not-for-profit conservation foundation can extend its reach by providing additional support for critical conservation education programs that inspire kids and families to get outside and connect with nature," said Johnny Morris, founder and CEO of Bass Pro, in the release.
The credit card promotion allows customers to earn points for purchases at Bass Pro and Cabela's stores.
Bass Pro initially penned the deal with Capitol One during its $5 billion acquisition of Cabela's in 2016 and 2017. The deal included Cabela's selling its financial arm, World’s Foremost Bank, to Synovus Bank, which then moved to sell the division’s credit card assets to Capital One, according to past reporting.
