Bass Pro expanding to Lake of the Ozarks

Springfield-based Bass Pro Shops is putting down roots in Lake of the Ozarks.

The company is targeting a spring 2027 launch for an Outdoor World store in Osage Beach, according to a news release. The store would be Bass Pro's ninth location in Missouri.

"We are all very excited about this expansion in our home state, and to continue to serve the passionate sportsmen and women of Missouri with everything they need for their outdoor adventures," Bass Pro founder Johnny Morris said in the release. "We have enjoyed serving outdoor enthusiasts for the last 50-plus years, and to help sportsmen and women get everything they need for their trips here in the Ozarks is an absolute honor."

The 75,000-square-foot store would be an anchor tenant in the redevelopment of Osage Beach Outlet Marketplace, a 4540 Osage Beach Parkway project that's contingent on city approvals, officials say.

The release notes that Christopher Foster of Horizon Development LLC and Dave Mashburn of Mashburn Development LLC are involved in the project. Sky Real Estate in 2024 purchased the 391,000-square-foot Osage Beach Outlet Marketplace from a subsidiary of Simon Property Group Inc. (NYSE: SPG), according to a separate news release at that time.

Bass Pro intends to employ 125 people at the Osage Beach store.

“As mayor, one of my key goals has been to attract more family-friendly activities and entertainment for both locals and tourists,” Osage Beach Mayor Michael Harmison said in the release. "Bass Pro Shops perfectly aligns with this vision. This major anchor store will draw in new businesses and tourists from around the world, creating opportunities for our community."

Bass Pro's website lists 180 stores under its name and that of Cabela's in the United States and Canada.
