Bass Pro Shops is following up on a Pennsylvania store announcement made last year with another new location in the state.
The Springfield-based outdoor retailer is targeting a 2027 opening for a 75,000-square-foot Outpost store in Muncy, which is located in the greater Williamsport region of Pennsylvania, according to a news release. The Bass Pro store would be located in a concept called The District, which represents the redevelopment of the former Lycoming Mall property.
“Bass Pro has a deep history of protecting habitat and introducing families to the great outdoors, and there is no better place for them to put down roots than in Lycoming County – the gateway to the Pennsylvania Wilds," said Pennsylvania state Sen. Gene Yaw, R-Williamsport, in the release. "This new location will undoubtedly strengthen the local economy and be a driving force for tourism and recreation in our region."
The Muncy store is expected to employ over 150 people once operational.
In spring 2024, Bass Pro announced it would add an Outdoor World store in South Fayette Township, a southwest suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with an opening projected in early 2026, according to past reporting.
With the stores in Muncy and South Fayette Township, Bass Pro would have four stores in Pennsylvania. The company's website list 178 stores in the United States and Canada under the Bass Pro and Cabela's names.
