A division of Springfield-based Bass Pro Shops has acquired a Florida resort.
Cheeca Lodge, located in the Florida Keys, was acquired for an undisclosed price, according to a news release.
"I have come to have enormous respect for the history of Islamorada, and the generations of anglers and families who have made memories here or who are blessed to call the Keys home," Bass Pro founder Johnny Morris said in the release. "We’re humbled and honored to have the opportunity to help protect it and carry that story forward."
The release additionally noted that the Bass Pro-owned World Wide Sportsman Store & Marina, also located in Islamorada, would pair well with Cheeca Lodge.
Founded in 1946, Cheeca Lodge has lodges and cottages, three swimming pools, a spa, a 9-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed par-3 golf course, a 525-foot historic fishing pier, tennis and pickleball courts and waterfront dining, according to the release.
Workforce housing essential throughout region, chamber officials say.
