In the last week, officials with Springfield-based Bass Pro Shops purchased 16.5 acres from Simon Property Group at Round Rock Plaza in Round Rock, Texas, according to Austin Business Journal.
The real estate move is in preparation for the outdoor retailer’s
seventh store in Texas. A 104,000-square-foot Outdoor World is slated to open in 2015 in Round Rock, part of Austin’s metro area sporting some 1.9 million people.
According to an incentives plan with the city of Round Rock, Bass Pro has agreed to invest at least $20 million in the store’s development. Located along Interstate 35, the store is slated include an Uncle Buck's Fishbowl and Grill, an ocean-themed restaurant and bowling alley concept.
