Bass Pro Shops has added a NASCAR truck to its list of racing sponsorships, and the vehicle will be on display Tuesday at the company's Springfield flagship store.
Bass Pro and Richard Childress Racing reached a partnership agreement in mid-January for the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet Silverado, which will race in the 2010 Nascar Camping World Truck Series.
Bass Pro and RCR have partnered on vehicle sponsorships since 1998, when the outdoor retailer was an associate sponsor of the No. 3 GM Goodwrench Chevy Monte Carlo driven on NASCAR's main circuit by Dale Earnhardt. Bass Pro also has sponsored vehicles for other NASCAR drivers, including Kevin Harvick, Kerry Earnhardt and Martin Truex Jr.
The 2010 vehicle will be driven by third-generation driver Austin Dillon, grandson of RCR President and CEO Richard Childress.
"All of us at Bass Pro Shops and Tracker Boats are tickled to death to once again partner with Richard Childress and the RCR team," Bass Pro Shops founder Johnny Morris said in a news release. "Austin is a promising young driver with a great future ahead of him."
The vehicle will be on display beginning at 10 a.m. at the new aquarium of the Springfield store, 1935 S. Campbell Ave. An autograph session with Childress and Dillon also will be part of the event.
The new truck is Bass Pro's second big NASCAR sponsorship announcement in the last few months. The company announced in November that southwest Missouri native Jamie McMurray will be at the helm of the No. 1 Bass Pro Chevrolet on the NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit. McMurray replaces Truex, who has joined Michael Waltrip Racing.
