Steve Bannon, former adviser to President Donald Trump, was charged Thursday with allegedly defrauding donors for a private fundraising project called We Build the Wall.
A federal indictment alleges Bannon used part of the raised funds for personal expenses. We Build the Wall raised more than $25 million with the pledge that the funding would be used for new sections of the Mexican border wall.
Bannon yesterday pleaded not guilty to charges of wire fraud conspiracy and money laundering conspiracy.
