After nearly two months of renovations, a Springfield branch of Bank of Sullivan is set to open at 3961 S. Campbell Ave. in Park Crest Village, the previous home of a Great Southern Bank branch. The branch marks the first brick-and-mortar presence in Springfield for Bank of Sullivan, which also operates a Pleasant Hope location.
Cyndi Crews, Bank of Sullivan vice president and Springfield-area branch manager, said the bank expects to have a soft opening for the location within the next two weeks.
“We were originally hoping for this week, then we were hoping for next week, so now it’s probably going to be end of next week or the following week,” Crews said, adding the branch will hold a Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony in early August.
Crews said the opening delay is due to a malfunction with doors on a drive-tru lane pneumatic tube. Other work to be completed in advance of the branch opening includes software installation, networking computers, and cash advance and fax machines.
“Everything is in, it’s just a matter of making sure everything is communicating with each other,” Crews said. “We’ve got to get all of that worked out before we unlock the doors.”
Crews said the bank building was vacant for at least 18 months prior to a complete renovation of its interior and some work to update the drive-thru lanes. She declined to disclose renovation costs, square footage of the location or terms of the bank’s lease on the space.
The small office building, located in the parking lot of a U.S. Postal Service distribution center, is part of a 3-acre parcel owned by Conspo LLC, according to Greene County assessor records.
With the Springfield opening of the Springfield bank, which Crews said would employ five people, the Bank of Sullivan would operate eight branches. Other locations include Sunrise Beach, Sullivan, Cuba, Labadie and Union.[[In-content Ad]]
