Accounting

Kirkpatrick, Phillips and Miller, CPAs, PC, announced that Joy E. Ward, CPA, Marita L. Dreiling, CPA, Shirley A. Hyde, J. Elaine Whitehead, Angela C. Baler and Heather D. Woody have completed Intuit's QuickBooks Certification coursework and become Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisors. The official QuickBooks certification program tests proficiency in the installation of the software, client support, payroll, job costing, purchase orders and industry-specific issues.

Business

Corporate Business Systems of Springfield was named one of the country's Elite Dealers by OfficeDealer magazine. The award is presented annually by the magazine to the top 80 office equipment dealers in the United States. Corporate Business Systems was founded in 1993 by Jim Quesenberry. It provides copiers, facsimile machines, computers, supplies and service. It also provides networking and digital connectivity services.

Financial

Gail Noggle, president of Gail Noggle Investment Firm LLC, passed the Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination, also known as the Series 65 Examination. Noggle also holds the Series 63 uniform securities and the Series 7 general securities licenses, in addition to a Missouri real estate license.

Health Care

Stephanie J. Grant, director of nursing at Springfield Rehab and Health Care, was named Nursing Director of the Year 2000 by NHC Corporation. Grant received the honor from company executives at a corporate conference in Savannah, Ga.

Charles E. Renner, OTR, CHT, administrator of Health South Rehabilitation Center of Springfield, completed his training in Active Release Techniques. Renner attended a four-day conference in Toronto and is now a Level 2 provider.

Law

Dee Wampler recently returned from a four-day Christian Legal Society national conference Nov. 2-5 in Washington, D.C. Wampler spoke to nearly 400 members at the conference on his book "The Trial of Christ: a Twenty-First Century Lawyer Defends Jesus."

Juvenile Court Judge Thomas Mountjoy was presented with the Court Appointed Special Advocates Juvenile Judge of the Year award at the CASA office in Springfield. Mountjoy also received the state CASA Juvenile Judge of the Year award.

Nonprofit

Traci Turner, of Carmichael Gardner Turner and Brown, is the newest board member of the Court Appointed Special Advocates Executive Board. CASA of Southwest Missouri is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to advocate for timely placement of abused and neglected children in safe permanent homes.

Gail Rusch has received her certified community action professional designation from the National Association of Community Action Agencies. The CCAP program is a peer recognition certification for senior-level community action agency staff members.

The Developmental Center of the Ozarks has been accredited by the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission for a period of three years in the following programs: Children's Services, Early Education and Childcare, Infant and Toddler Therapy, Children's Therapy, Adult Services, Community Services, Technology Learning Center and Supported Employment.

Technology

Mark Hunsaker, technical instructor at New Horizons Computer Learning Centers, was awarded the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer designation. Hunsaker teaches numerous Microsoft technical classes and also holds the MCT, A+, Network+ and MCP certifications.
