Southwest Missouri State University announced several staff accomplishments.

Michelle Granger, assistant professor of consumer and family studies at Southwest Missouri State University, recently attended the conference, "Fashion Directors: Visioning the Future," in London. Granger delivered a presentation, held a poster session and published an article on her research on entrepreneurial education through internships.

Julie Stierwalt, PhD, assistant professor of communication sciences and disorders at SMSU, was awarded $183,311 from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for the project, "The Missouri Consortium for Distance Education in Communication Sciences and Disorders."

Janet Nazeri, PhD, professor in the School of Teacher Education at SMSU, presented a paper entitled "Desegregation and Diversity: the Paradox of a Historically Black University's Successful Mission Refinement," during the research session of the 25th annual conference of the Association for the Study of Higher Education in Sacramento, Calif.

The Rev. Wayne Tesch was named Distinguished Alumnus for 2000 by the Evangel University Alumni Association.

Financial

Michael L. Rowan, an insurance agent with Allstate earned the title of personal financial representative following successful completion of the Series 6 and Series 63 license examinations given by the National Association of Securities Dealers Inc. and completing an extensive Allstate training curriculum.

Richard L. Weston, CFP, recently completed the requirements for the National Association of Tax Preparers Achiever designation. The designation requires the completion of at least 40 hours of Continuing Professional Education each year for three consecutive years.

Law

F. Richard Van Pelt has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America 2001-2002 Edition in family law.

Media

Ron Cunningham, a mailing standards specialist with the U.S. Postal Service in Springfield, received the Benjamin Franklin Community Newspaper and Postal Partnership Award of Excellence for Missouri from the National Newspaper Association and the Missouri Press Association.

Campbell-House Productions was named a national finalist in the 2000 Vision Awards competition for a video program created for SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation in the category of non-broadcast productions, health care. The program was written by Dave Campbell and Mary Lou Thomas. Campbell also served as director, videographer, editor and narrator for the program, and ConTempo Music produced the music for the video. Employees and residents of SunBridge provided on-camera talent for the production.

D.L. Media Inc. has been named National Finalist in the 2000 Silver Microphone Awards and the 2000 Vision Awards. Dianne Davidson, Nick Sibley, Gina Copeland and Mick Denniston receive creative credits for their Silver Microphone entry, a radio campaign for Bill Roberts Chevrolet. Dana Harding, Steve Rippe, Annette Lyne and Jim and Dianne Davidson receive credits for their Vision nominee, a television commercial for Midwest Discount Brokers Inc.
