Kevin Henderson was named the first Sue Rollins Continuing Studies Educator of the Year by Drury University's College of Graduate and Continuing Studies. Henderson began teaching at Drury in 1994. He holds a master of arts in English and a bachelor of arts, summa cum laude, both from Southwest Missouri State University. Gary S. Liddle, associate professor of biblical studies at Evangel University, is the recipient of the 2001 E.M. and Estella Clark Award for Excellence in Teaching, Scholarship and Service. Ozarks Technical Community College was recommended for the maximum 10-year accreditation by a team from the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Shirley Shedd, chair of the communication department at Evangel University, was one of 33 professors to receive an "Excellence in Education" certificate at the Delta Kappa Gamma state convention awards luncheon in April. Southwest Missouri State University's secondary social studies and secondary English certification programs were recently reaccredited by the National Council for Social Studies and the National Council of Teachers of English, respectively. Positronic Industries Inc. received a Gold Industrial Wastewater Pretreatment Compliance Award at the Missouri Water Environment Association's 72nd annual meeting. Janet Miller, human resources director for Jenkins Diesel, completed requirements for a human resource certificate. This represents a total of 61 classroom hours of instruction in eight modules. The Missouri Department of Transportation received the Trailblazer Award from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials for outstanding team efforts in its departments.
