Evangel University Alumni Associa-tion presented its President's Award for 2001 to Diana Papit. Papit graduated from Evangel in 1970 and has served two terms on the Alumni Board of Directors.
Evangel University Alumni Associa-tion named Kevin Compton its Distin-guished Alumnus for 2001. Compton is a general partner with Kleiner Perkins, and Caufield & Byers, which fund companies such as America Online, Amazon.com, Compaq, Netscape, Marthastewart.com, and many others.
The Springfield office of McKesson Corporation, who provides clinical and agency management software to home health agencies, donated more than $5,000 to community agencies. The McKes-son Foundation has invested $50,000 to local charities in the past two years.
Randal J. Renkel, CPA, of Kirkpatrick, Phillips & Miller, CPAs, PC recently passed the Certified Financial Planner certification exam. Renkel has over 20 years of experience in corporate and individual income tax planning, employee benefit plans, retirement planning and estate planning.
Southwest Missouri State University student Michael Shane Cassaday was recently awarded the F.W.A. Bosch Scholarship. The scholarship is named for a professor who taught religious studies and philosophy courses and is given to a religious major or minor student with 15 hours of academic work with a minimum of a 3.25 grade point average.
Evangel University Alumni Associa-tion presented its Outstanding Young Alumnus Award for 2001 to Steve McLaurin. McLaurin, who graduated from Evangel in 1989, specializes in information technology and is based out of Fort Worth, Texas. Some of his clients include Blockbuster, Burger King and Radio Shack.
David Endacott, commercial lines ac-count executive of Ollis and Company Insurors, has earned the designation of accredited advisor in insurance from the Insurance Institute of America. Endacott was required to complete a six month course of study and successfully pass three national examinations.
The National Association of Profes-sional Organizers honored Denslow Brown of Drury, Mo., with the President's Award for her many years of service to the organizing industry. Brown is the director of the coaching lab at The Optimal Functioning Institute, a training center for coaches who work with adults with ADD.
Springfield's John Piatchek, of Piat-chek & Associates Inc., has attained 2000 membership in the Million Dollar Round Table, an independent international association of leading life producers. This is Piatchek's 29th consecutive year of qualification.
St. John's Southwest Missouri Re-gional Arthritis Center is one of seven Missouri arthritis centers that received nearly $7,000 each for their aquatics programs from the Eagles Clubs of Missouri.
Gov. Bob Holden announced Sept. 26 that retired Army Col. Timothy M. Daniel was hired to review the state's existing emergency response plans in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Daniel holds the title of Special Advisor for Homeland Security. Daniel has nearly 30 years of military experience with six years in command at the company, battalion and brigade levels.

The officers are: Mitzi Ivy, president; Debra Yeager, president-elect; Angie Mullings, vice president; Christy Townsend, secretary; Carol Knopp, treasurer; and Sheila Krempges, sergeant-at-arms. The Center for Archaeological Re-search, a division of SMSU, recognized Patsy D. Corbett for her work in supporting the Ozarks chapter at the annual Missouri Archaeological Society meeting. Also during the meeting, Jack Ray presented an update on research and Gina S. Powell, PhD reported on excavations.
