The Ozark Empire Fair received first place honors in two categories for Di-vision II fairs at the annual convention of the International Association of Fairs and Expositions in Las Vegas. Both wins were in the Competitive Exhibits category.

Court Appointed Special Advocates of Southwest Missouri received a $3,000 award from the Bank of America, which will help provide training for additional CASA volunteers in the spring. CASA, a United Way agency, also announced a donation from the Turner Family Foun-dation, which will make it possible for the program to expand to serve more foster children in southwest Missouri.
The Missouri Department of Trans-portation received two national awards for the quality of its efforts in work-zone safety and long-range planning. For the 2001 Midwest States Smart Work Zone Deployment Initiative, MoDOT was honored with the National Safety Award for helping research and test new work-zone-safety technology. For the Quality Team Achievement Award, Mo-DOT was honored with the Pathfinder Award for helping prepare the department's long-range transportation direction.
Carol Williams was named the City Utilities Bus Driver of the Year for 2001. Williams has been a bus operator at CU since 1994.
Tony Dixon of HouseMaster was among the home inspectors attending the Hometest Inc. Mold and Healthy Home training course in St. Louis. Upon completing the Mold and Healthy Home training course, Dixon is qualified to do testing in homes for various types of mold.
The American National Fish and Wildlife Museum, Wonders of Wild-life, announced the receipt of a $1 million donation from the Brunswick Cor-poration of Lake Forest, Ill.
