Avocado prices have jumped 125% this year

The American Restaurant Association reports the wholesale price of avocados has risen 125 percent so far this year.

Last week, a standard box of 48 avocados sold for $83.75, an increase from $37.25 in January.

"My bet is that it's the highest ever," said David Maloni, ARA's president.

The ARA cited a weak harvest this year and increased demand.
