AutoZone co-founder dies

AutoZone Inc. co-founder Peter Formanek died over the weekend. He was 76.

Formanek also was previously president of AutoZone, which today has more than 6,300 stores and 96,000 employees. It's a major competitor to Springfield-based O'Reilly Auto Parts.

Additionally, Formanek became known as a philanthropist in Memphis through his support of the Memphis College of Art and the Shelby Farms Park Conservancy, among others.
