Ford Motor Co. and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles broke analysts’ sales estimates for February thanks to a triple combination of strong demand, Presidents' Day weekend promotions and delayed purchasing caused by January storms.
Ford’s light vehicle sales rose 20 percent last month, and SUV sales also had a double-digit boost.
Chrysler continued a 71-month U.S. sales streak that climbed 12 percent in February, also behind strong SUV and truck sales.
Volkswagen AG is the only automaker projected to see a decline in February sales amid continuing fallout over the company’s emissions tests scandal, according to Bloomberg Business.
